This is a terrible book with very debased corrupt values. It attempts to reduce many of the greatest writers down to a group of people whose sex and private lives do not fully conform to what passes for "normal" and correct in the sections of American society that see Sarah Palin as a figure of great moral and intellectual stature and have their TV sets permanently set on Fox News. The level of research is below that of a Wikepedia article and the standard of the prose reflects a contempt for the potential readers of this shameful work.
There are "articles" about 50 writers and notes on lots of others. I read maybe ten of them, each of no value.
This book seems just like a cheap, easy, vulgar attempt to make money by appealing to people's prurient interests. If you love to see nude pictures of royalty and stars in the tabloids and have a laminated picture of the Princess of Wales topless in your wallet this is your kind of book.

Sounds like something I wouldn't use to wipe my posterior with, for fear of sullying it.
