Thanks for leading me to this.

Galton was born at "The Larches", a large house in the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham, England, built on the site of "Fair Hill", the former home of Joseph Priestley, which the botanist William Withering had renamed. He was Charles Darwin's half-cousin, sharing the common grandparent Erasmus Darwin. His father was Samuel Tertius Galton, son of Samuel "John" Galton. The Galtons were famous and highly successful Quaker gun-manufacturers and bankers, while the Darwins were distinguished in medicine and science.Mel uhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08714473754458914681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023956444265128672.post-9743970778964095262017-10-11T08:00:43.243+08:002017-10-11T08:00:43.243+08:00the roots of modern civilization, one might say......the roots of modern civilization, one might say... i wonder if Francis Galton, the eugenicist, was related...Mudpuddlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17194891656971454279noreply@blogger.com
