Year 12 Begins for The Reading Life. Some facts and Observations

On July 9th  2009 I told my wife I was starting a website on which I would post  Notes about what I read. She asked me what I would do if no one read my remarks. I thought then it will be a miracle if I can keep The Reading Life going for three months.

My Blog has come to mean a great deal to me.  It helped me get through dark times.  It has brought me into contact with many people.  It makes me feel less alone.

I have expanded my reading into areas I once knew nothing about.  Now Reading and Blogging are intermingled.

If anything is of lasting value on my Blog it is the 100 Q and A sessions with authors.

Since inception my posts have been viewed 6,377,942 times.

There are 3961 posts online

The top home countries for visitors are

  1. USA
  2. The Philippines
  3. India
  4. Canada
  5. Uk
  6. Sweden
  7. Indonesia
  8. Germany
  9. Russia
  10. Ireland

The most viewed posts of all time are on colonial era short stories by authors from the Philippines second to this India.  More and more it is mostly Posts on short stories that draw readers worldwide. Sometimes a post might go years with few readers then have hundreds in one day.

Those who write both short stories and novels tell us that short stories present greater challenges. Short stories are part of the foundational faiths of the world.

Among the core areas of focus on The Reading Life are

Short Stories, Irish literature, Classics, Modern Fiction, Contemporary Literary Fiction, The Japanese Novel, Post Colonial Asian Fiction, The Legacy of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Yiddish literature and quality Historical Novels.

I greatly enjoy discovering hitherto me unknown writers to add to my ever growing list of authors I wish I could read in full.  I do read more works by women then men. My life revolves around my wife and our three young adult daughters and I do seek to expand my  understanding of their world (ok six cats and now a sweet as can be Shih Tzu thrown in the mix).

I am committed to the goals of multi-Cultural literary globalism.

I offer my great thanks to Lyn u for her emotional support and her ongoing efforts to make me a better man.

I thank Max u for his incredibly valued provision of Amazon gift cards and for his advise.

To those who leave comments, you help keep me going.

Oleander snd Ambrosia Bousweau are always of great help.

I hope my year 13 post on July 9, 2022 will be in a world not dominated by a pandemic

If I am blessed with a few more blogging years, i hope I am deeply into writers and Reading areas that as of now i have never encountered.

Did you receive her three-month prediction as a challenge? So she strengthened your commitment? Or, did it just continue because it was more fun than expected?
