The story I was reminded of reading about Machen was The Grove of Ashtaroth, which is in this collection; I like too The Rime of True Thomas, because it's set in my it of the world, and I do like the lapwing that speaks Lowland Scots! If you enjoy Buchan's supernatural stories, I really do recommend his novel Witchwood, which I'm pleased to find is available (in the UK at least) on Kindle.

I'll be interested to know what you think of Buchan's stories.Jodie Robsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02442935205880334932noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023956444265128672.post-5780100774903456382011-09-20T11:45:37.368+08:002011-09-20T11:45:37.368+08:00Carl V-I guess "The Great God Pan" is ne...Carl V-I guess "The Great God Pan" is near must reading in the history of paranormal stories

Geranium Cat-thanks so much for your comment and visit-can you suggest a short story or two by John Buchan-that I can read online-thanks so muchMel uhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08714473754458914681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023956444265128672.post-72423502205069142422011-09-20T01:33:59.254+08:002011-09-20T01:33:59.254+08:00This sounds a little like some of John Buchan'...This sounds a little like some of John Buchan's supernatural tales. Not surprising, I suppose, because they would be more or less contemporary. One of those must-reads for people curious about the history of supernatural fiction, I should think.Jodie Robsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02442935205880334932noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023956444265128672.post-89595739191996828062011-09-12T05:14:05.982+08:002011-09-12T05:14:05.982+08:00I was hoping you would read and review this one af...I was hoping you would read and review this one after what you said about it and King's thoughts on it in your other post.
