Kiss Me Kate- A 1953 Musical - Directed by George Sidney - Score by Cole Porter -Starring Kathryn Grayson, Ann Miller, and Howard Kael

Kiss Me Kate- A 1953 Musical - Directed by George Sidney - Starring Kathryn Grayson, Ann Miller

The 1953 film adaptation of "Kiss Me Kate" is a classic musical comedy that tells the story of divorced actors, Fred Graham and Lilli Vanessi, who are forced to work together on a musical adaptation of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew." The film was a critical and commercial success, winning five Academy Awards, including Best Music Score.

Cast: Howard Keel and Kathryn Grayson star as Fred Graham and Lilli Vanessi, with Ann Miller and Tommy Rall playing the roles of Lois Lane and Bill Calhoun. The film also features Keenan Wynn and James Whitmore as a pair of gangsters who become involved in the production.

The film follows the backstage drama as Fred and Lilli try to work together while their personal feelings for each other resurface. The film also features the onstage musical numbers from the play, which are some of Cole Porter's most famous songs.
Music: The film features a score by Cole Porter, including such classic songs as "Another Op'nin', Another Show," "Too Darn Hot," and "Brush Up Your Shakespeare."
Reception: The film was a critical and commercial success, winning five Academy Awards, including Best Music Score. It is considered one of the best film musicals ever made.

I was hooked from the opening sequence when Ann Miller Sings "Too Darn Hot".

There are 17 songs in Kiss Me Kate

Hmmm, you have me wondering now if I've ever actually seen this one. I always enjoy a retelling of "Taming"...
