First Quarter Report on The Reading Life

My blog is three months old today.    I find myself surprised by a few things.   When I began my blog I had never read a Japanese novel.    Now I find of the books 11 works I blogged about in September more than half of them were by Japanese authors.     Banana Yoshimoto and Kenzaburo Oe are  among my favorite writers.    My blog, as people told me it would when I did a one month report, has begun to sort of take on a mind of its own.   I will continue to read and post on Japanese novels on a regular basis as well as Chinese novels.    My blog will always be centered on the literary treatment of those who live the reading life.

I have learned about a number of new to me writers from book blogs, not just Japanese writers but American, English, Chinese, French, Australian, Filipino and a Kiwi throw in  for good measure.    Most of all I have learned that there is a vast community of book bloggers-great people.   They blog about all sorts of
books.   Some blog about the allusions in The Fairie Queene,  some on   Y A stories about fairy queens.
Some blog on Wilke Collins others on Susanne Collins.      Some get lost in The Decline and Fall of  The Roman Empire.    Some blog on the declining level of service in bookstores.    We all love books and that is what matters.

I am very grateful to those who read my blog and am still very happy whenever I get a comment.    Please feel free to make any comments you may have.

Happy three months Mel! :) Wow, for someone who's only been blogging for that short time, you sure have accomplished a lot! And in accordance to what you said, I do find your reviews to be engaging and in them you show your attachment you developed with the books and their characters.

Continue to have a wonderful reading life, and continue inspiring others! :)

You've had a fantastic three months! Isn't it amazing to see where blogging leads us? I hadn't read a short story since high school, and now I try to feature one weekly. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations on your first three months of blogging. Looking at your recent posts, I'd think you were a long time fan of Japanese literature, how fun that you've just discovered it! And you're way ahead of me as I've yet to read anything by Oe. Something I plan to rectify next year.
Happy blogging for a long time to come!!
