Signing Up for the First Year of a Fascinating Challenge
During German Literature V last month I discovered a number of new to me book blogs with interesting ideas and great insights.
I was intrigued to see they are planning to host for 2016 The New England Reading Challenge. I could see a lot of thought has gone into the planning of the event. The full particularities are of course in tne host blog but here is the structure of the challenge (quoted from the host)
Here are the twelve categories, with the months when I’m planning to focus on them here on ECBR (though you may read from any category at any time):
January: New HampshireFebruary: FictionMarch: MaineApril: Poetry and DramaMay: VermontJune: NonfictionJuly: MassachusettsAugust: Children’s BooksSeptember: Rhode IslandOctober: Speculative Fiction and MysteryNovember: ConnecticutDecember: Readalong or free choiceMy reading is somewhat directed by the books I can get for free and the many review books I am kindly given. As of right now I am for sure planning to read Maine Stories by Anne Beattie and The Country of Pointed Firs by Anne Jewett. I also hope to read something by Henry James. Yesterday I got a digital review copy of a forthcoming history work about African and Indian slavery in New England, New England Bound by Wendy Warren.I am also staking the claim to be the challenge participant who lives furthest from New England, at 13554 KM from Boston. Much of the literature of New England deals with changes of the season, tne cycles of the year. We don't have that here, the seasons are wet and dry but always hot.Reading New England 2016 Challenge Sign up hereMel u

Welcome to the challenge, Mel. It's wonderful that we can visit all kinds of places through reading.
